THE Assistance Nurse Manager (ANM) Professional Excellence Program models the American Organization of Nursing Leadership (AONL) (2022) Nurse Leader competencies as the foundation for the activities that award points.
Nurse clinical leaders, such as assistant nurse managers, provide the essential link between the administrative strategic plan and the point of care. The clinical leader is responsible for creating safe, healthy environments that support the work of the health care team and contribute to patient engagement. Their role is essential in creating a professional environment and fostering a culture where interdisciplinary team members are able to contribute to optimal patient outcomes and grow professionally. The clinical leader competencies are based on the Nurse Leader Core Competencies which provide the framework for the knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with effective leadership–from first time leaders to experienced executives. The core competencies encompass the breadth and depth of the nursing leadership specialty, across health care settings and leadership roles. AONL (2022)
